The SPCA presents four special events each year which offer something for everyone - pets and people alike! The events, My Pet is Cuter than Yours Photo Contest, the Wine & Wags Social, and Paws in the Park Walk, all directly benefit the programs and services the SPCA provides Erie County citizens and animals every day of the year.
Lights of Love is a tribute event taking place on December 5, 2013 at the SPCA Serving Erie County during our annual Radiothon. It is a way for people to honor their family, friends, and pets. For a $20 donation, a white light can be purchased in memory of a person or pet or a colored light can be purchased in honor of a person or pet. During the Lights of Love tree lighting ceremony, the lights will be illuminated as a way to honor and remember the pets and people who have touched our lives.
My Pet is Cuter Than Yours Photo Contest
During the month of March 2014, everyone who currently owns a pet, or who owned one, is encouraged to upload a photo of their pet to our annual photo contest, My Pet Is Cuter Than Yours. Participants upload these photos to a designated page, MyPetisCuterThanYours.org, and then encourage friends and family members to vote (and donate) on their behalf. All of the money raised supports the programs and services of the SPCA Serving Erie County. At the end of the contest, there will be one winner from four categories.
Wine and Wags Social
Presented by Kiss 98.5 and The Premier Group, Wine & Wags is a wine and food tasting event for people and their dogs! Held on the SPCA's beautiful Paws-Way on June 11, 2014, attendees will enjoy sampling wine, beer, and food from local restaurants. There are also many pet-themed vendors and exhibitors and the chance for attendees to see how clever their canine is in the agility course! Event attendees enjoy sampling wines and food prepared by local restaurants. (And the dogs enjoy taking quick dips in the pools!)
Paws in the Park Walk
As the SPCA’s longest-running fundraiser, the Paws in the Park Walk invites people to come with (or without) their dog to a two-mile walk at Beaver Island State Park. The event will be held on September 27, 2014 and will include the opportunity for participants to interact with 50+ pet-related vendors and exhibitors, judged dog trick, costume, and dog-owner look-alike contests, an agility course for the dogs, and fun for children and adults alike with inflatable bounce houses, Participants are encouraged to raise pledges that directly benefit the people and animals the SPCA assists. In return, these participants win incredible prizes.
