What Is 'FOSTERING?'
Many animals are surrendered to the SPCA when they cannot be put up for adoption. Some are injured, some are ill, others are too young or too scared, and others...well...there simply isn't room for them, especially during the summer months. FELINE FOSTER TEAM members bring the animals into their homes or businesses. They provide the special care and attention their "patients" require until it's time for the cats and/or kittens to go up for adoption! FELINE FOSTER TEAM members are directly responsible for saving hundreds of cats' lives each and every year.

What Is Required Of Foster Team Members? Experience? Is There A Cost?
There is NO COST TO BE A FOSTER PARENT! When you become a FELINE FOSTER TEAM member, ALL YOU PROVIDE IS THE HOME & THE LOVE! The SPCA pays for each foster feline's food, veterinary care, even toys and other supplies. FOSTER TEAM members need to be comfortable handling cats, but for most kitty clients, that's the only experience required. The SPCA will teach you all you need to know about caring for your foster cats/kittens, and someone is available by phone 24 hours/7 days a week to help with any problems that may arise.

Who Can Be Foster Parents? |
The SPCA is asking individuals and representatives of residential businesses to become FELINE FOSTER TEAM members. Families, members of residential communities, senior centers, and other residential organizations can become short-term foster care suppliers, caring for felines two weeks to three months depending on the individual animal's condition and shelter population; or long-term foster care suppliers, caring for a cat up to one year or longer. |
