Mall Adoption Questions
Where are you located in the mall? What are your hours?
The SPCA's adoption site at Walden Galleria is on the lower level of the mall, down the hallway near the Macy's escalators. Our new hours will be Monday through Friday, 11 am – 9 pm; Saturday, 10 am – 9 pm; and Sunday, 10 am – 7 pm. Holiday hours vary.
How are your cats housed? Are they in cages?
Each cat has its own state-of-the-art condo from Cat's Inn. The condos were designed by a veterinarian with the cats' physical and mental well-being in mind. View this video from the SPCA adoption center for an up-close and personal look! Kittens are housed in traditional open-air condos at the front of the shop.
Can I bring my children to play with the cats?
We would be thrilled to show you a cat you are seriously interested in adopting! We even have several "play rooms" in which you can get acquainted with your potential new companion. Cats are only removed from cages for new adopters, however; this prevents the cats from being overly handled and from becoming stressed, which could also lead to illness.
What kind of animals do you have up for adoption at the mall?
We always have a large selection of friendly felines waiting for a home! Young adult and adult cats are always available at the mall and, depending on shelter population, there are often kittens available as well (especially during the spring and summer months.) I'm from Canada. Can I adopt and bring a pet over the border?
Absolutely! We will provide you with the necessary paperwork to travel across the border with your newly adopted kitty or other pet.
Can I surrender an animal to the SPCA mall location?
No, we cannot accept animals at our mall location. If you need to surrender an animal, please visit our Tonawanda shelter. Surrender details are available here.
I'd like to sponsor one of the mall housing units and have my name and/or my company's name displayed! How do I proceed?
To sponsor one of our state-of-the-art condos, contact our friendly development director, Jennifer Garver, at 716-629-3517.
I'd like to join the volunteer team at the mall site! How can I get involved?
To volunteer at the SPCA's mall adoption site, call our friendly volunteer coordinator, Kelly Lindstrom, at 716-629-3503.
Do you carry anything in addition to animals at the mall site?
There is a variety of merchandise available at the shop, including all the basics you'll need for your new cat. We also have a friendly, knowledgeable staff available to answer questions and assist you through the adoption process.
